Whether you’re driving utility trucks, construction vehicles, or personal vehicles on the job, safety behind the wheel is essential to ensure both your safety and the safety of others on the road. By the end of the training, participants will have the skills to drive responsibly, reduce the risk of accidents, maintain the safety of themselves and their team, and handle emergency driving situations with confidence. This course is a critical part of ensuring that every trip to and from the job site is a safe one.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand Defensive Driving Techniques: Learn to apply defensive driving strategies to anticipate and react to potential hazards, minimize the risk of accidents, and protect oneself and others on the road.
  • Perform Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspections: Gain the knowledge and skills to conduct thorough vehicle inspections, ensuring that vehicles are in safe working condition before operating.
  • Navigate Hazardous Road Conditions Safely: Understand how to drive safely in various weather conditions (rain, snow, fog), on uneven or construction-prone roads, and in environments where utility work is taking place, to prevent accidents and maintain control of the vehicle.
  • Follow Regulatory Guidelines and Compliance Standards: Learn about federal and state regulations related to driving utility vehicles, including FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA standards, to ensure compliance and maintain safety while on the road.

Compliance and Certification Requirements

This Driver Safety training course is an awareness course and includes the areas outlined in 29 CFR 1926.601 (Motor Vehicles), 49 CFR Part 391 and 392 (FMCSA Regulations), 49 CFR Part 396 (Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance), 49 CFR Part 383 (Commercial Driver’s License Standards), and 49 CFR Part 390 (DOT Standards), as applicable. This course satisfies the regulatory requirement(s).
