Course Description
This ladder safety training is designed specifically for workers who frequently work at elevated heights, whether it’s on utility poles, towers, stages, walls, or other structures. In this course, participants will learn the key principles of ladder safety, including how to properly select, inspect, and use ladders to prevent falls and injuries. The training will cover the importance of correct ladder placement, secure footing, and maintaining three points of contact while climbing. Participants will also be trained on how to recognize and address common ladder hazards, such as unstable ground, improper ladder angles, and faulty equipment. By the end of the training, workers will be equipped with the knowledge and hands-on skills to use ladders safely, reducing risk and ensuring compliance with safety regulations in the utility industry.
Learning Objectives
- Proper Ladder Selection and Inspection: Learn how to choose the appropriate ladder for different tasks and how to inspect ladders for damage or wear before use, ensuring they are safe and reliable.
- Safe Ladder Setup and Positioning: Understand the correct techniques for setting up and securing a ladder, including proper angles, stable footing, and ensuring the ladder is positioned on solid ground to prevent slips or tipping.
- Climbing and Working Safely on Ladders: Master the “three points of contact” rule, proper body positioning, and safe climbing techniques to minimize the risk of falls and injuries while working at heights.
- Recognizing Ladder Hazards: Identify common ladder-related hazards, such as unstable surfaces, overreaching, and electrical risks, and learn how to mitigate these dangers effectively.
- Emergency Response and Rescue Procedures: Develop the skills to respond to ladder-related accidents or emergencies, including how to safely assist a fallen worker and ensure timely rescue procedures are in place.

This Ladder Safety Training course is an awareness course and includes the areas outlined in 29 CFR 1910.23 (General Industry Guarding Floor and Wall Openings), OSHA 29 CFR 1910.26 (Ladders), and 29 CFR 1926.1051 (Fall Protection), as applicable. This course satisfies the regulatory requirement(s).
