To effectively protect themselves in environments where hazards are present, it’s crucial that employees understand the proper use of respiratory protection. This Respiratory Protection Level C Awareness Training course is designed to educate students on the correct use of Level C respiratory protection, ensuring they are equipped to handle these risks safely. By the end of this course, participants will be able to confidently assess their workplace hazards, select the appropriate respiratory protection, and ensure they are following safety protocols to maintain a healthy and safe work environment. This training is essential for workers who face exposure to harmful airborne contaminants in the workplace, ensuring they can work effectively and safely.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the Role of Level C Respiratory Protection: Explain the specific situations and hazards where Level C respiratory protection is required, and the differences between various types of respiratory protection levels.
- Proper Selection and Use of Level C Respirators: Teach participants how to select the appropriate Level C respirator for the task at hand, including understanding the limits of protection and ensuring compatibility with other personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Fit Testing and Seal Checks: Instruct participants on how to perform proper fit testing for Level C respirators, including ensuring the mask forms a proper seal to prevent inhalation of harmful airborne contaminants.
- Maintenance and Inspection of Respirators: Provide guidance on how to properly inspect, clean, and maintain Level C respiratory protection to ensure its effectiveness and longevity, as well as when to replace parts like filters and cartridges.
- Recognize Signs of Respiratory Distress: Educate participants on the symptoms of inadequate respiratory protection and how to recognize early signs of respiratory distress or discomfort, emphasizing the importance of proper breathing techniques.

This Respiratory Protection course is an awareness course and includes the areas outlined in 29 CFR 1910.134 (Respiratory Protection), as applicable. This course satisfies the regulatory requirement(s).
