Overview

Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED training prepares participants to respond to medical emergencies involving infants and children. The course addresses both injury and illness scenarios commonly encountered in childcare and youth-focused environments.

Course Description

This program teaches recognition and response strategies for pediatric medical emergencies, including CPR, AED use, choking events, and first aid interventions. Training emphasizes safe, timely decision-making and appropriate emergency actions.

Certification requires successful completion of cognitive learning and hands-on skills evaluation.

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize pediatric medical emergencies
  • Perform infant and child CPR
  • Use an AED in pediatric scenarios
  • Respond to infant and child choking events
  • Apply first aid techniques for injuries and sudden illness
  • Activate emergency response systems appropriately

Compliance and Certification Requirements

Successful participants receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED completion card.

Completion cards are typically valid for two years.
